Fabric delights!

I have been spending a lot of time trying to preserve fabric on my buttons and brooches lately. Overtime fabric brooches can fade or get dirty and then they loose their glamour ( especially if you are like me and wear them to death!). You can't wash them because of the backings or some fabrics are too delicate and don't take to soap and water well - so spot cleaning is out.

Over the past few weeks I have been playing with resin on fabric to help it sustain it's beauty. While some fabrics do not respond to the resin well others just look so yummy they seemed like much more than brooches! Finally I am very happy to show my lastest success! As you can see this necklace is just stunning and so romantic - it reminds me of the victorian era.

I have a few of these for sale at the Bowerbird Cafe ( see Hazel 199 Bilsen Road Wavell Heights) but will be placing some on Etsy next week.

I just couldn't wait to share! Hope you all have an amazing weekend!

Birdie Reversible Everyday Bag

Ok so I've kind of got a fetish for reversible bags at present, I think its because I love the fact that something has more than one 'face'. So while the outer design of this bag is bold and bright the inner is more understated and quiet. Quite the reverse of my orange bag with brooches that I showed you all earlier this week. The colours of this bag work so well together. Lately I've decided to use lighter fabrics on the inside of bags as one women pointed out its much easier to find your things on the inside of bags...however the down side is they can get a bit grubby especially if your like me and carry bits and pieces of food and drink for kidlets! Nothing a bit of a wash can't fix!

Ok so more about this bag which is currently for sale in my Etsy shop

The outer fabric of the bag is made from a heavy cotton with cute pictures of birdies and flowers. As you can see the bag is mainly black in colour and enhanced by whites, oranges, blues and greens in the birdie and flower designs.

The inside of the bag is a rusty pink cotton. There is a sizeable pocket on the inside of the bag as well.

Bag care and love: Both fabrics are machine washable- but I would hand wash in cool water using a mild soap like wool wash or similar. This will keep the bag's colour and shape.

The approximate dimensions of the bag are:

From top of straps to bottom of bag: 50 cm / 20 inches height: 28 cm / 11 inches width: 40 cm / 16 inches

More Bag Love....

This little 'Pink Paisley' number is a cute addition to your handbag collection. The black background with elegant splashes of pink green and red through the paisley design means it is easily matched with an entire wardrobe.

I can see this bag looking great with jeans and a cute blazer or a snazzy pink skirt with black heels!

The bag dimensions not including the handles are:
12 inches ( 31cm) across
9 inches ( 23cm) at its deepest point.

Bag care and love:
It is recommended to spot clean this bag or a gentle hand wash if it is necessary. You can use a hot iron to bring the bag back into shape.

This handbag is currently for sale in the Etsy shop

Bag Love of the day!

This bag is as the title says REVERSIBLE!!! How cool, is that? It is a one off design as well. The outer bag is made from a beautiful orange linen/cotton blend and embellished with three removable broches made from the inner material. When you turn the bag inside out, presto, you can wear your matching brooches. The inner fabric is a heavier cotton, very durable, and has pictures of birds, butterflies and flowers in a mostly black base. Bag care and love: Both fabrics are machine washable- but I would hand wash in cool water using a mild soap like wool wash or similar. This will keep your bags colour and shape. Never wash the brooches! The approximate dimensions of the bag are: From top of straps to bottom of bag: 50 cm / 20 inches height: 28 cm / 11 inches width: 40 cm / 16 inches

Black Handbag "Butterflies at night"

This bag is the story of good v evil!
It is very eye catching. It tells the story of a family of butterflies and their journey home to safety. The black background is the night sky and the butterflies are guided by a spirit home - a beautiful pink butterfly with faux gems and crystal center.

The bag is now for sale in my Etsy shop

I hope you like it.

Black Kitsch Handbag

The inspiration for this bag is my "other life"...motherhood ... so in celebration of the things women do I created this kitsch black handbag that is supposed to be a little tongue in cheek! I particularly love the big green button clasp!

The lining is black, with a small pocket.

The handles are black wooden U shaped and fit in your hand so nicely. And they are shiny too!

It is about 38 cm wide and 25 cm deep

Its for sale now in my Etsy shop

Bag of the Day: Orange Purse with Yo Yo and Flower

Todays lovely purse is a vibrant orange. I saw this colour on a beautiful top while shopping for Christmas fare - so it gave me the idea to create a burst of colour for the Christmas season....It is paired well with DUSTY BROWN shades and TURQUOISE .

It is quite roomy, being about 30 cm wide and 21 cm deep. It has an internal pocket with two compartments. The handles are gun metal in colour and are extremely sturdy.

Its available for sale at my ETSY shop Now!
